Fall Concert - Sunday, November 9, 2014

"A Magic Firebird! was the theme for the November 9, 2014, family concert, where a glistening firebird saved a sweet prince, Mozart set two soloists dueling, a statue came to live and took revenge, and Star Wars characters joined characters from the movie Frozen." -- Susan Davenny Wyner, music director and conductor.

    The orchestra performed:

• Don Juan, or the Stone Guest's Banquet by Christoph Willibald von Gluck
• Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra in E-flat major, K. 364 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with soloists Hristo Popov, violin, and Samuel Rotberg, viola
• The Empire Strikes Back by John Williams
• The Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky
• Selections from Frozen by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez

    Musicians for this concert

    Prize-winning Art in Music Contest winners were recognized and their art works were displayed in the lobby. An instrumental petting zoo -- where audience members can have hands-on experiences with instruments and talk with performers -- occurred during intermission.

    The concert was held at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic Street, NE, Warren and began at 3 p.m.
