Warren Philharmonic Orchestra’s March Gala Event

The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra will hold a gala fun event entitled “Sweets, Magic and Music” on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 6:00 P. M. in the recently remodeled Hippodrome Grand Ballroom located at 150 High Street, N. E. Warren, OH 44483. Tickets are $35.00 and can be purchased by calling (330) 399-3606 or by calling the Executive Director, Barry Dunaway, at (330) 399-1891. Admission includes parking on the west side of the Hippodrome, downtown Warren. There will be live magicians performing at their best with music furnished by members of the Orchestra. A selection of hors d’oeuvres, mini sandwiches, and desserts will be featured by the Mocha House.

This event follows a previously successful social event that was titled “Secrets of Steinway.” The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra Executive Director, Barry Dunaway stated that due to budget concerns the Orchestra Board of Directors has decided to hold a series of enjoyable social events to help fund the Orchestra.

One of the important projects of the Orchestra is to outreach to children by performing free concerts for them and familiarizing them with orchestral instruments through a “petting zoo” in which students are allowed to enter the orchestral area to touch and play the instruments of their choice.

The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra has been in existence since 1965 and now performs concerts at the beautiful stone Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic Street, N. E. in Warren, Ohio. Its next concert is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 8:00 P. M. The theme is entitled “Some Enchanted Evening.” The Concert will feature selections of Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Rodgers and Hammerstein. The Westminster College Festival Chorus and the Orchestra will perform Bach’s Cantata 191 “Gloria in excelsis Deo” and the Orchestra will accompany Ballet Western Reserve Company dancers with Ives/Schuman’s “Variations on America.”

Tickets to the concert are by season subscription; $24 single admission; $21 for seniors citizens. Children under the age of 13 are admitted free. Tickets can be obtained by calling the WPO office at (330) 399-3606.
