The Orchestra's Strings of Joy program provides free violin lessons to selected Trumbull County students in grades three through seven.
A brief video featuring this year's Strings of Joy program has recently been produced by Jeremy Scott Films. The Warren Philharmonic family thanks Amanda Winner and Jeremy Merkel for donating their time and talent! Watch the Vimeo video. (3:49 min.)
The Orchestra loans each student an age-appropriate violin and provides individual, 20-minute lessons Sunday afternoons through June 2018. Occasional group lessons are scheduled, as well. The Orchestra provides printed music to the students at no cost.
Each student must be willing to attend the lessons, practice what he/she is learning, properly care for the borrowed instrument and demonstrate good behavior throughout each lesson.
Parents must be willing to provide transportation for the lessons, provide encouragement and practice space, and assume ultimate responsibility for the instrument.
Instructors are WPO orchestra members who are paid under a separate fund consisting of grants from the Cafaro Foundation, community organizations and individual donations.
