Youth Outreach Campaign 2017-2018: We need your help!
July 27, 2017
Dear Friends of the Orchestra,
At the end of last year, we were notified by the Regional Chamber Foundation that they would not be supporting us financially in 2017 for economic reasons. Two weeks ago, the City of Warren Community Development Block Grant officials informed us that the grant of $12,000 that they had approved last year for 2017 would not be distributed because of "staffing issues."
Both of these grants were for our Youth Outreach Program. They have enabled us to provide two free concerts to Trumbull County students in grades 3 through 8 for many years now. The monies also supported our Art in Music Contest for students and our Strings of Joy program, which provides free violin lessons to applicants.
These two actions create a $22,000 deficit to our budget!
We need your help to continue these valuable programs, which we feel are a great asset to the general and cultural community of Warren.
Our short term plan is to apply for more grants (a process that takes time to achieve), double our ads in our program book and possibly have more fundraisers.
We are asking you, as members of the musical community, to help us in our endeavor to sustain our Youth Outreach Program by donating generously at this time so that in November we can, in fact, offer the free concerts and sponsor our Art in Music Contest for the children of Trumbull County.
Thank you in advance,
Barry G. Dunaway, Executive Director Leanna J. Dunaway, Assistant Executive Director
